One on One: Aaron Berardino ‘12 - Wide Receiver - Windsor (CT) - Football

No wide receiver in New England has started the 2011 season as strong as Windsor's (CT) Aaron Berardino '12. The athletic senior has helped the Rockets get off to an early 4-0 start to the 2011 season by scoring an amazing 13 touchdowns in his first three contests.
In his most recent effort against Hartford Public that Windsor won 46-0 Berardino scored on a 9-yard run, a 57-yard catch and a 79-yard punt return.
Berardino has eight receiving TDs, three rushing TDs and two return TD on the season for the 4-0 Rockets.
Berardino is also a returning veteran on the defensive side of the ball and has helped lead Windsor to a dominating start in all facets of the game.
We caught up with Berardino briefly to discuss football and more....
Q: You and your team are off to a strong beginning to the season. What do you bring most to the success of the team?
AB: As a team I believe I think that I bring leadership and experience.
Q: As one of the top ranked players in a talented Connecticut Class of 2012 can you talk about the progression you have made as a player since you began your high school career at Windsor?
AB: I honestly can say that I have become more vocal during games as well as practices since my first varsity game my freshman year. I have also really came a long way with my routes and the way that I run on and off the field.
Q: When did you begin playing football and who can look back at as having the biggest influence in your game both athletically and personally?
AB: I began playing football at the age of six in the West Hartford inner city league. Throughout my years I could honestly say my father has influenced me the most. He has helped guide me mentally on the field as well as been there, helping me be successful like a father should.
Q: Can you talk a little about your summer and preparation for your senior season? Where did you camp at, any passing leagues and what type of off season conditioning did you partake in?
AB: My summer went well. I spent time every other day with Alton Smith, Quinn Fleeting, Tre Coyle, Ryan Lumpkin & etc. for about an hour or so running routes.
For camps I went to BC, UConn, Temple, and Stony Brook.
We as a team won Winter & Spring passing leagues in Toland as well as the summer 7-on-7 in Hartford.
Q: Can you talk about the recruiting process and how it has gone for you?
AB: Recruiting is going alright. It is not that much stress or anything, just letters emails etc. I am currently leaning towards CCSU (Central Connecticut State University).
Q: When you have free time what do you like to do away from the football field?
AB: When I have free time I like to hang out with friends.
Q: Lastly, what is something about you or your interests that not many people know about? Anything unique or different?
AB: Something interesting about myself is I like to do random Back Flips at football practice once in a while.
