Massachusetts

  • Billerica continues to put up big numbers this season  as UMass bound attack Grant Whiteway '11 (58 goals and 29 assists for 87 points through 11 games) and Cam Slatton '12 are topping the charts again this season. Billerica led the state in goals scored last year and are on their way again this season.
  • Don't look now but Acton-Boxborough (9-5) has won three games in a row, over L-S, Newton South and Wayland is playing their best lacrosse of the year. A defensive lacrosse team A-B started the season, 2-3, and has since run off six of their last eight games. Check out more on the Wayland game, here on Acton Patch.
  • The Massachusetts "Fab 15" remains fairly stable this week with Medfield, Marshfield, and Newton North making the biggest jumps. You want to start playing your best lacrosse of the season as the month gets close to playoffs and teams like Duxbury, Billerica, Wellesley and Concord-Carlisle are looking like they are standing on top of the class this season.

Elsewhere in New England

  • After their 10-7 loss to Manhasset, Darien (CT) has now won three games in a  row with wins over St. Anthony's (NY) and Niskayuna (NY) and a recent smashing of Fairfield-Ludlowe, 17-4. Darien looks to have a fairly easy path for the rest of the regular season in Connecticut with a good match-up against Ridgefield (8-2) on May 18th, the final day of the season.
  • In New Hampshire Bishop Guertin (6-3, 6-0 vs. NH) and Pinkerton Academy (9-0) continue to win games in anticipation of their match-up later this month at Pinkerton on May 16th. BG has an interesting match-up this weekend as they host Rhode Island power La Salle Academy on Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • BG senior attack Matt Thistle '11 was named our NEPS athlete of the week for his performances against Concord and Nashua North.
  • In Rhode Island La Salle Academy (7-0) defeated  North Kingstown (7-2) last Wednesday in a battle of the two best in RI, 10-4. La Salle Academy, narrowly defeated Moses Brown, 9-8, as well on Wednesday.
  • Preps and Privates - Deerfield Academy (MA) (10-0) remains the team to beat in New England as they continue to roll over teams. In the past week they have put up some impressive wins.

  • Two Connecticut Prep Powers, Salisbury (6-1) and Avon Old Farms (9-4) also are playing strong lacrosse at the right time of year.
