Tuesday night New Hamshire and Central Mass action
Posted on February 10th 2010
Tuesday night we hit up 2 contests as Bishop Guertin (NH) handled Nashua South (NH) 71-56 and in front of a fired up home crowd Groton-Dunstable (MA) ran over Marlborogh (MA) 72-55.
Nashua South (NH) kept the game close for most of the first half but Bishop Guertin (NH) woke up, found their composure, and took control of the young Nashua squad en route to a 71-56 victory. Junior's Sean McClung (#34 pictured left), Connor Green and Senior Scott St. Lawrence led the way for BG. Nashua South has some nice young athletes in particular Freshman Kaleb Joseph. Nashua South has some great building blocks but unfortunetely at 2-9 this season they need stay focused and develop to finish out their season on a high note. It does not get any easier for Nashua South, however, as they matchup with (10-1) Merrimack this Friday night.
In the second contest of the night we traveled south to Groton- Dunstable (MA) to watch some Central Mass Hoops and one of the better Junior's in New England in Marlborogh's (MA) Zach Auguste The game started off slow but GD's Senior F Ryan Romich, who is also a scholarship player, and Marlborogh's Auguste staked their claims and GD took a one point lead at the half 20-19. The second half was a completely different story as GD completely shut Auguste down with Box and 1's, zones, man, et all. Everything they did worked perfectly as they held Auguste in check and pulled away. GD won the game 72-55 in front of some mid major D1 coaches and an energized crowd.
