Medfield’s Roddy Picks Williams

Medfield attack Conor Roddy '12 made his college decison known this weekend as he will take his game to Williams College for the 2012-2013 season. Roddy adds to an already loaded Williams College class, who continue to add elite New England players left and right.
"When I had the chance to visit the school I loved every part of it, especially the picturesque location in the Berkshires," Roddy told New England Prep Stars. "Being one of the top schools in the country did not hurt either."
Roddy was one of the most valuable players in this year's 2011 MIAA lacrosse tournament. The junior attack helped lead Medfield to a second straight D2 state championship by scoring five goals and dishing out six assists in his last three tournament games. His two goals and four assists in the EMass finals, at Harvard Stadium against a strong Concord-Carlisle defense, was one of the more impressive offensive games as there was in EMass all season.
"On the lacrosse level, I knew I wanted to be part of the NESCAC league which is arguably the best in DIII," said Roddy. "The competition is incredible and there are no easy games. Coach McCormack and the rest of Williams coaching staff was great and that made my choice a lot easier."
Roddy, who plays his summer ball for the elite Laxachusetts summer club team, will have a few familiar Massachusetts teammates at Williams in 2012-2013 in recent commitments Peter Crane (Wellesley) and Bryson Gilbert-Bono (Middlesex School).
"The class coming in for 2012 should be a great one," said Roddy. "I have played against Crane during high school and played with him over the past couple summers (Laxachusetts). He's a great player and should add a lot to the offense."
"I have only heard good things about Gilbert-Bono, who will also be a great addition," Roddy added. "I am looking forward to playing with both and the rest of the team and hopefully bringing home a National Championship or two."
