Concord-Carlisle wins 3 OT thriller

Concord-Carlisle wins 3 OT thriller

Posted on May 25th 2010

A sunny and hot day on the upper lacrosse field at Concord-Carlisle High School was the scene for one of the better lacrosse battles of the 2010 season.  The tempo of the game was back and forth but very much a defensive battle.  Both teams had opportunities upon opportunities to take control of the game but this one was destined to be a barn burner all the way until the end.

Concord-Carlisle overcame a 4-1 first half deficit to run off 4 straight goals in the third quarter giving them a 5-4 lead heading into the final quarter.  A Ryan Pollack goal right as the fourth quarter started knotted the game up at 5 and gave the momentum back to Reading.  Both teams had minimal shots on goal in the remaining few minutes and the game was locked up at 5-5 at the end of regulation.

After two overtimes of staunch defense and big saves from both goalies the score still remained 5-5.  As the water buckets were empty and a third overtime was about to end CC attackman Seth Bird took advantage of a reading defensive mishap, pushed the cage and ended the game.

Concord-Carlisle Goalie Robbie Snook '10 (pictured left) was the star of the game making every save he should have and numerous that were spectacular.  His clearing ability, accurate passes and gutsy ball control were all major factors in CC's win.

Reading received strong performances from Midfielder Ryan Pollack '10 (2G, 1A) and Defenseman Jimmy Collins '10.  Playing well for Concord Carlisle were Defenseman Peter George '11, Midfielder Cole Fischer '11 (2G) and Bird (2G).
