Chelmsford 13 Acton Boxboro 0

The Chelmsford Lions used a heavy dose of running back Joe Gennaro and a stellar defensive effort to shutout the Acton-Boxboro Colonials Thursday night at home.  The game was a low scoring defensive battle that suited Chelmsford just fine.

"I thought we played well. The offensive line really stepped it up this week and the defense played well. We played a complete game on both sides of the ball."Gennaro said.

Their all-leagyue defenders, DB Zach Hayes and LB Tim Joy, made the plays when it counted as Hayes (1 fumble return for TD and 1 INT) made the play of the game in the first half when he knocked the ball loose and picked it up for a score on the AB 1.  Joy also made a huge interception in the third quarter as AB was starting to mount a drive.  The junior Midlle Linebacker was all over the field as usual making countless tackles.

When asked about the impact the carries are taking on his body Gennaro explained, "I am a little sore but it is well worth it.  I love coming out here everyday with these guys."

Gennaro and the Chelmsford Lions host Haverhill next Friday night at 7 p.m under the lights.

Lexington 26 Concord-Carlisle 13

After that it was all Lexington and Murray,  Murray had 3 scores on the day to go along with 75 yards of rushing.  The Lexington Defense penetrated the CC Offensive Line on countless occasions led by defensive lineman Charlie Blackett.

Concord-Carlisle tried to mount a combeack in the fourth quarter, led by stud junior running back George Craan and senior quarterback Peter George  (1 rushing TD) but it was too little too late.
