High School football season is upon us and with the start of the 2011 season we bring you some of the top players in New England by position.

We look at some of the most talented offensive and skilled players in New England.

This is a starter list, and by no means a ranking or end all/ be all. The goal is to provide a look at some of the top players at each offensive position to watch this upcoming season in New England.

Quarterbacks highlight this list of talent as New England is rich in the position, especially in the Class of 2012.

Stay tuned to newenglandprepstars.com for our substantive football coverage all Fall. On Monday we will feature our NEPS athlete of the week, Tuesday we will have our Football notes and recap, we will have daily athlete profile additions and updates and live game coverage on Fridays and Saturdays on our twitter @newenglandpreps and facebook accounts.

Quarterbacks

Jonathan Dibiaso Sr. Everett (MA) - Dibiaso is 26 touchdown passes shy of the all-time Masachusetts state record. He leads New England's pre-season number one ranked team into battle against Leominster Friday night.

Nick LaSpada Sr. Billerica (MA) - LaSpada looks to conclude his decorated schoolboy career by turning around a disappointing 5-6 season for the Indians in 2010. LaSpada can do it through the air or on the ground and is a hard hitting safety as well.

Paul Mroz Sr. Brockton (MA) - Mroz received a waiver to play this season and Boxer nation is excited as Mroz is one of the better kept secrets in the quarterback rich Northeast.

A.J. Doyle Sr. Catholic Memorial (MA) - The NC State commit is also a tough linebacker who is poised to get CM over the hump and compete with rivals BC High and Xaverian in the Catholic Conference.

Brandon Walsh Sr. North Andover (MA) - North Andover's QB was nearly flawless the entire season up until the playoff game with Concord-Carlisle in 2010. Walsh will look to take that next step this season.

Matt Milano Sr. New Canaan (CT) - Milano tossed an unheard of 42 touchdown strikes in 2010 and returns to lead New Canaan's record setting offense.

Bryan Castelot Jr. Bunnell (CT) - One of the most impressive looking members of the Class of 2013 Castelot is looking to make that jump to elite status in the junior class this season at Bunnell.

Michael Walsh Sr. Swampscott (MA) - The Brown commit is ready to explode this season after a huge summer at the passing camps and a solid junior year.

Matt O'Keefe Sr. Duxbury (MA) - O'Keefe is one of the top lacrosse defenders in the country and the Johns Hopkins bound star is no slouch under center as well. O'Keefe will have the QB duties to himself in Duxbury's wide open offensive attack.

Chris St. Onge Jr. Pinkertoin Academy (NH) - After helping Pinkerton win their opener with his two rushing touchdowns St. Onge looks to stay hot as Pinkerton takes on NH D1 rival Nashua South this weekend.

Running Backs

George Craan Sr. Concord-Carlisle (MA) (pictured below) - The 2010 New England Prep Stars Player of the Year Craan is 20 lbs stronger and is determined to win the Super Bowl after progressing each of the last two years. The senior rushed for 1914 yards in 2010 and returns most of his talented offensive line and many fellow teammates. Look for HUGE things from Craan and company this year.

Jerickson Fedrick Sr. Salem (NH) (pictured top left) - Fedrick is a dynamic runner who put up monster numbers sharing many  of the carries with 2010 NH Mr. Football and Marist College RB Max Jacques. Fedrick broke the 100 yard mark in game one and added a receiving TD in a gritty win over Keene.

Preston Cooper Sr. BC High (MA) - The 5-foot-8 running back is one of the most talented backs in New England and looks to lead BC High through a demanding schedule and back to Catholic Conference glory in 2011.

Brenden Lytton Sr. Torrington (CT) - Lytton can fly as evidence from his game film and scouting report. The shifty 5-foot-9 back ran for over 2353 yards last season this year.

Andy Coke Sr. Andover (MA) - Andy Coke lined up in the backfield and at QB last season but should see most of his time as a running back this year. Coke finds ways to put up numbers and is noticeably bigger and stronger than in 2010.

Sacoy Malone Sr. Springfield (MA) - Malone is the top running back in Western Mass and should improve upon his 1200 plus yards rushing in 2010.

Armond McRae Sr. Nashua South (NH) - McRae is one of the most underrated players in New England but 2011 should provide a viewing party for the senior RB/ ATH.

Alonzo Connor Sr. Gardiner (ME) - Connor is the best player in the state of Maine and he picked up right where he left off last season after gaining over 2000 yards on the ground. In game one as he scored four touchdowns and ran for over 140 yards.

Mike Mastroianni Sr. Xavier (CT) - Mastrioanni is just 5-foot-8 but you would not know that from the way he runs between the tackles. Mastroianni can also kick it outside and has the line and talent around him to excel this season.

Eddie Sheridan Sr. Chelmsford (MA) - Sheridan saw split action in 2010 but he was dynamic and explosive in each game he was featured. Sheridan is stronger and has speed to burn. He will be the featured back in Chelmsford's run first offense and should have a major coming out party this year. Look for big numbers in 2011.

(Montrell Dobbs PG Milford Academy NY) - stellar Ansonia (CT) back headed to UConn but playing his PG out of New England at Milford Academy in CT.

Wide Receivers/ Athletes

Canaan Severin Sr. Worcester Academy (MA) (pictured below) - Severin is the top unsigned player in New England in the Class of 2012. The standout WR and athlete impressed everyone nationally this summer and he should have another impressive season at Worcester Academy this year.

Malik Golden Sr. Cheshire Academy (CT) - Golden is arguably the best athlete in New England on both sides of the ball and recently committed to Penn State before his senior season. Look for big things from Golden who has his commitment behind him and clear and focused mind in 2011.

Armani Reeves Sr. Catholic Memorial (MA) - Reeves rivals Golden athletically and provides CM with a dynamic athlete and play maker on both sides of the ball. reeves and Golden will both head to Penn State next year to play for Coach Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions.

Taylor Wrice Jr. Bristol Eastern (CT) - Wrice is one of the top athletes in the Class of 2013 and should have offers lined up "around the block" for his explosive play making ability.

Don Webber Sr. Duxbury (MA) - Webber is a consistent possession receiver who had a huge game in Duxbury's Super Bowl win over Concord-Carlisle last season. Rumors are that Webber is looking at Ivy league schools and should have another big year with most of Duxbury's team, and QB Matt O'Keefe, returning for another go at it.

Khary Bailey-Smith Sr. Weymouth (MA) - Bailey-Smith is a track star who could have a huge year this season at Weymouth. The record high jumper is a three sport athlete who also plays basketball for Weymouth and is exciting and explosive with the ball in his hands.

Efrain Montalvo St. John's Shrewsbury (MA) - Montalvo should be the feature of the offense at St. John's Shrewsbury who graduated all-state TE Richard Rodgers (Cal).

Aaron Berardino Sr. Windsor (CT) - Berardino has great hands and field vision and should have an even better season this year with another year of growth.

Jack Cooleen Sr. Falmouth (ME) - Cooleen is a tall, 6-foot-5 inch WR who scored an impressive 13 TDs last season for the state's top team in Falmouth. Look for improved numbers from Cooleen who has his height advantage along with a great set of hands.

Matt Clifford Jr. Billerica (MA) - Clifford will be the top target this year of quarterback Nick LaSpada in Billerica's spread attack. look for huge numbers from the junior athlete who is comfortable in the slot and has deceptive speed to beat defensive backs down the field.

Tight End

Jameson McShea Sr. BC High (MA) - McShea is New England's top rated TE in the Class of 2012. The BC High star and Temple commit should be the focal point of the Eagle's aerial attack this year and provide a great compliment to Preston Cooper in BC High's quest to win another Catholic Conference title.

Andrew Isaacs Jr. Manchester (CT) - Isaacs has already been offered by UConn and should see those offers rise as he gets stronger and more experienced. Issacs is a top rated junior in New England.

Nick Lund Sr. Rivers School (MA) - Lund, who also is a recruited basketball player, stands 6-foot-7 and uses his height to his advantage as a receiving tight end. The former Woburn High School (MA) wide receiver should have a big year in the new Rivers offense.

Brett Gaughan Sr. Pomperaug (CT) - Gaughan is hybrid WR/TE who has great hands and does his best work over the middle of the field. he is also a hard hitting linebacker on defense.

Andrew Lauderdale Sr. Trinity (NH) - New Hampshire's top tight end prospect the 6-foot-6 250 lb plus Lauderdale gives Trinity a big target and also provides play making ability from his DE spot.
